My name is Anamika Basu.

I’m a doctor, a carer for my father after his stroke, and frequent patient – currently recovering from a double risk-reducing mastectomy and breast reconstruction after getting diagnosed with Li-Fraumeni syndrome last year.

Which means I’ve experienced a lot of the UK health and social care world, with all its faults and beauty.

I’m also passionate about what it means to look after yourself when your life is about other people, which, whether work or personal life, nearly everyone’s is.

I like to blog about my recovery, and what it’s like to look after yourself, including  when most of your time is spent looking after others.
